Im Schuljahr 2016/17 wurden 15 Klassen nach einem Konzept unterrichtet, das die phonographisch-silbischen und morphologischen Regularitäten der Wortschreibung berücksichtigte. Als Vergleichsklassen dienten zehn Klassen, die schulbuchorientiert an der Wortschreibung arbeiteten. Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags steht die Leistungsentwicklung der 25% schwächsten Rechtschreiber/-innen der Stichprobe. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die schwachen Rechtschreiber/-innen der Interventionsgruppe (n = 50) sowohl direkt im Anschluss an die Intervention als auch vier Monate später signifikant größere Lernfortschritte aufweisen als die vergleichbare Gruppe der Kontrollklassen (n = 40). Die Effektstärken liegen im mittleren bis großen Bereich (Nachtest: n2 ... : The purpose of the present intervention study was to examine whether and how the spelling performance of fifth graders develops through teaching based on the structure of the graphic system, as established by graphemic research. In the school year 2016/17, 15 classes were taught according to a concept that took into account the phonographic-syllabic and morphological regularities of word spelling. Ten classes that followed a schoolbook-oriented approach served as a control group. The focus of the article is on the performance of the weakest 25% of students in the sample. The results show that the weak writers in the treatment group (n = 50) had a significantly greater learning progress both directly after the intervention and four months later than comparable students in the control group (n = 40). The effect sizes are in the medium to large range (post-test: n2 = .08–.12, delayed post-test: n2 = .07–.13).
